Celebrating Partnerships: Western United Football Club

Looking back on our journey, it’s clear that strong partnerships have played a big part in our success. One of the relationships we’re most proud of is with Western United Football Club, a young but ambitious team in Australia’s A-League. Since their founding in 2018, they’ve quickly made a name for themselves both on the pitch and off, with a strong commitment to growth and excellence.

Since July 2020, we’ve been proud to sponsor and collaborate with the club, helping them stand out in the community with our printing and design services. It’s been an exciting ride so far, and our partnership only continues to grow.

Origins & Early Connections

Our partnership with Western United kicked off in July 2020, right at the start of the 2020/21 A-League season. We’ve been with the club from the early stages, proudly partnering to support their journey both on and off the pitch. Although Nathan Perrone, the club’s Commercial Partnerships Executive, joined after the partnership was established, he recognises the foundation laid early on by our Director, Stefan, and the club’s former Commercial Manager, Andrew Pirchan.

The idea to partner with 61 Design came about through a shared connection with the City of Ballarat, where Western United was hosting games at the time. This provided an opportunity for us to offer our printing and design services, while Western United gave us fantastic exposure through advertising, hospitality, and matchday benefits. As Nathan puts it, “Stefan and his family were big supporters of the club, and we were able to help each other out.”

Nathan still recalls his first meeting with 61 Design fondly: “It was special because it was my first-ever meeting at the club in my new role as the Commercial Partnerships Executive” He also highlights a standout memory from our “Kick to Win activation when it had its first big winner: “It was in Ballarat at the Regional Soccer Facility, and I got to be on the pitch with Stefan. It was a great moment.” These experiences have laid the foundation for a strong, lasting relationship, and have created memorable moments along the way.

Evolution of the Relationship

Over the years, our relationship has evolved significantly. Nathan notes, “The partnership has endured, even through challenges like changing account managers.” But despite that, the partnership has remained strong. “It says a lot that we’ve been partnered for four seasons out of the five that the club has been around,” Nathan explains.

There have been plenty of highlights too, like memorable away trips and the big “Kick to Win” moment. For Nathan and the team, our office at 61 Design has also become a bit of a second home, with all the Western United memorabilia on display making it feel even more like a part of the club.

Quality and Consistency

What truly sets 61 Design apart, according to Nathan, is our family-oriented approach. “The relationships built at 61 Design have created a service that is outstanding,” he says. “We love supporting family-run businesses, and the quality of products is always top-notch.”

Nathan highlights that 61 Design consistently goes above and beyond, especially during tight deadlines. From LED productions for club partners to creating programs and posters for events, the level of service has never wavered.

Impact on Western United Football Club

Partnering with 61 Design has had a big impact on Western United. Nathan explains, “We’ve been able to deliver high-quality print and design work both for the club and for our partners. Initiatives like “Kick to Win” have helped boost fan engagement, no matter where we play.”

He also appreciates how we’ve helped the club out during crunch times, saying, “The personal relationships and ability to prioritise our work when we need it most is something we don’t take for granted.”

Personalised Experience

One of the things that stands out most to Nathan is the attention to detail and the personal touch we bring to every project. “The level of care 61 Design puts into their work, especially with our LED displays, makes me really grateful and proud,” he says.

He also notes how we’ve gone above and beyond more than once, particularly when it comes to urgent requests. “Stefan’s driven down our products for matchdays when he didn’t have to. It’s happened a few times, and they’ve always been willing to help.”

Looking Towards the Future

Looking to the future, Nathan is excited about what’s next for our partnership. He’s keen to work together on enhancing the Kick to Win” activation and exploring new design projects. “I see 61 Design continuing to add value through our ongoing print and design work, helping us create the best experiences for our fans and partners,” he says.

As we celebrate our partnership with Western United Football Club, we want to thank them for their trust, collaboration, and kinship. We’ve reached some great milestones together and look forward to many more years of success and exciting projects ahead.

Here’s to a great future filled with exciting projects and many more memorable milestones together!
